Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia Football Association hosted three matches in the Premier League and one in the semi-final of the Super League of SLFA Inc. Island Cup on Monday, February 6, 2023.
Down at the Desruisseaux Playing Field, Canaries and Gros Islet played to a hard-fought 2 – 2 draw. Scoring for Gros Islet were Aaron Richard and Troy Greenidge in the 4th and 27th min, while Dhriv Jn. Baptiste in the 32nd and Duayne Jn. Baptiste, a penalty in the 69th min did the honours for the Canaries in Saint Lucia.
In the other game played at the Ground, Dennery with a goal from Jaime Prospere in the 58th min edged out Central Castries 1 – 0. Over at the Soufriere Mini Stadium, in their final match of the Premier League La Clery solidified their top position with a 4 – 1 victory over Mabouya Valley.
They got their goals from Kerry Joseph 11th min, Shaquille Williams an own goal in the 52nd, Andrus Remy 83rd and Michele Pitragostin in the 87th min. Scoring for Mabouya Valley was Canius Sandiford in the 38th min in Saint Lucia.
In the semi final of the Super League Laborie with a goal from Simeon Alexander in the 14th min edged out Anse La Ray 1 – 0. Incidentally, the Anse La Raye team was issued three red cards.
Currently in Saint Lucia are three FIFA representatives Messers Jordan Victoire, – FIFA Regional Office Development Coordinator, Jair Bertoni FIFA Director Member for the Associations of Americas and Herve Blanchard, FIFA Regional Office Development Manager.
On Monday 6th February 2023, they held discussions with newly elected President Lyndon Cooper, General Secretary Victor Reid and Asst. General Secretary with responsibility for Infrastructure and Projects Development Evastus Augustin.
The main purpose of their three days visit is assist the SLFA Inc. to develop and review the overall master plan as it pertains to its Football Infrastructure Development and more specifically the advancement of the ongoing Goal Project.
During their stay in Saint Lucia, they will be visiting all the sites of the FIFA funded SLFA’s Inc. Football Infrastructure Development Projects.
