Saint Lucia led by strong performances from Courtney Paul and Fayth Lubrun finish sixth overall at the 27th edition of the Goodwill Swimming Championships at the National Aquatics Centre in Kingston, Jamaica yesterday (Sunday 20th August 2023).

The Saint Lucian swimmers earned seven medals, three silver, and four bronze, while several swimmers earned Personal Best (PB) times.

  • Boys 8 and Under, Tiago Nelson, bronze 50-meter breaststroke.
  • Boys 11-12, Jayden Xu, Bronze 200 Individual Medley (IM).
  • Girls 9-10, Sapphire Parks, Bronze 200 IM.
  • Girls 13-14, Fayth Lubrun, Silver 200 meters freestyle, Bronze 100 meters butterfly.
  • Girls 15-17, Courtney Paul, Silver 50 meters breaststroke, Silver 100 meters breaststroke.

Final points table: the Bahamians topped both the male and female sections, respectively, to claim the championship with 1,418.50 points. Jamaica took second place with 1,143.50, Trinidad and Tobago (970.50) ended third, Barbados (739.50) fourth, Suriname fifth (522.50), Saint Lucia sixth (197.50), Grenada seventh (3), and Turks and Caicos eighth (1) respectively.

Girls – Sapphire Parks, Aniyah George, Najmah Melchior, Jasmine Vigier, Zaina Brathwaite, Kayla Marisse – Inglis, Damari Maxwell, Fayth Lubrun, Courtney Paul, Maliyah Henry, and Caitlin Polius.

The 28th edition of the Goodwill Swimming Championship will be held in Saint Lucia (2024). 

The excitement is building as the Gros Islet Football League Under 13 team prepares to embark on a remarkable journey to the Caribbean Children’s Charity Shield Soccer Classic, scheduled to take place in Barbados from Friday, 18th to Sunday 27th, August 2023.

This highly anticipated event promises to bring together young talents from across the Caribbean region, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie, sportsmanship, and friendly competition.

The Gros Islet Football League Under 13 team, fuelled by their dedication and passion for the sport, is thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase their skills on an international stage. The team’s commitment to excellence, both on and off the field has earned them a place among the esteemed participants of this prestigious tournament.
