Castries, Saint Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia and Tourism Minister Ernest Hilaire announced the results of the Black Cake and Sorrel Competition. The event was held on December 18, 2022, at the Castries South office Grounds.

Black Cake Competition:
- 1st – Team Mamai Noel – Barre st Joseph – 219 points
- 2nd – Team Sisterhood – Upper Ciceron – 209 points
- 3rd – Team Whitehouse – Firehouse – 208 points
Sorrel Competition:
- 1st – Claudius Joseph- Ciceron – 120 points
- 2nd – Bernadette Sonny – Barre St Joseph – 111 points
- 3rd – Stasia Emmanuel – Upper Ciceron – 105 point
Ernest Hilaire presented the gifts and prizes to the winning teams and extended greetings to them. The competition was part of the celebration of Christmas and encouraged the talented people of the constituency.
Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia- Ernest Hilaire always worked for the welfare of his constituency and believed in creating a platform for the citizens, especially for the students, where they could showcase their talents, skills and crafts.
The competition also aimed to entertain the children with the festival’s vibes and provide a platform to students for the enhancement of their skills. People also witnessed the Red Door Competition on December 17, 2022, as part of the Christmas celebration.
He added, “The Christmas festivities continue in Castries South with our Red Door Competition and Black Cake and Sorrel Competition.”

Saint Lucia has been observing different events and activities as part of the Christmas celebration. The government of Saint Lucia indulged in hosting different events to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and invited the citizens to be part of the activities.
Ernest Hilaire also distributed the hamper throughout the constituencies for the people who were sick as part of the Christmas activities. He added that Christmas is about caring and spreading happiness in the lives of the people.
“In Castries South, we started Day 1 of our hamper distribution throughout the constituency for those that are sick and shut-in. Christmas is about caring and giving to those around us. Compliments of the season to all, “said the deputy prime minister.
Meanwhile, Ernest Hilaire also shared an update on the Christmas Solo and stated that the Castries South constituency will host the event on December 23, 2022 from 8 pm onwards. The event will be held at the Barre St Joseph Community Care.
The event will feature numerous fun activities, games and the arrival of Santa. Children will also get exciting gifts, and the event will be filled with musical vibes.
He added, “As we come to the peak of the Christmas festivities, come enjoy the sweet Solo in Barre St. Joseph on Friday, December 23, 2022, from 8 pm onwards at the Barre St. Joseph Community Centre.”
