Castries, Saint Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia Ernest Hilaire attended Independence National Baton Relay that commenced Yesterday, February 05, 2023, in the governorate of Castries South of the nation under the theme of ‘keeping the nation together’.
As per the recent information, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire updated the event’s details on his official social media handle, stating that “The Independence National Baton Relay in Castries South will be continued throughout the length and breadth of Saint Lucia”.
In addition, “The organized National Baton Relay is held with the motive of representing the togetherness of Saint Lucia by taking one step at a time,” Deputy Prime Minister Hilaire added in his statement.
As per the reports, the Independence National Baton Relay is organized under the celebration events of Saint Lucia’s 44th anniversary of Independence, during which Hilaire noted that, “We must applaud and appreciate the efforts and hard work of the people and government who had gone before us and played a significant role in the growth and evolution of our country”.
Additionally, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire also cited that the people of Saint Lucia need to come together and work with mutual understanding and cooperation to create such an environment that would spur greater innovation and development in the nation.
On his part, He pointed out that the Saint Lucians need to interact and support each other in hardships and challenges, and by being together, we can achieve the goal of “Douvan Ansanm: One People, Shaping Our Destiny”.
The reports have also stated that the 44th Anniversary of Independence will host several other events and celebrations to celebrate a special occasion in different governorates of the country.
In the end, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire also updated several photographs from the National Baton Relay event, where he delivered a speech, called all the participants, and extended his best wishes to his delegation and other officials.
The government of Saint Lucia also launched the calendar of events for the celebration of their Independence which will include numerous activities such as church service and many more.
