Castries, Saint Lucia: Edward Blasters secured victory in another match of the 2023 Gros Islet Domestic Cricket Tournament against Melius Challengers on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 in Saint Lucia.
The action in the 2023 Gros Islet Domestic Cricket Tournament, sponsored by District Representative; Kenson Casimir, continued with the 20/20 format on Wednesday, February 1, at the Gros Islet Playing Field in Saint Lucia.
EDWARD BLASTERS came up against MELIUS CHALLENGERS, with both teams in search of their first victory of the tournament. EDWARD BLASTERS batting first was dismissed for 154 in their allotted 20 overs, with Shawnil Edward making 38, Caleb Thomas and captain Tarrique Edward 21 each, Keon Gaston 17 and Kester Charlemagne 16.
The wicket takers for MELIUS CHALLENGERS were; Leon Alexander with 2 for 21 in 3 overs, Dillan John with 2 for 26 in 4 overs, Sky Lafeuille with 2 for 28 in 3 overs and one wicket each to Keygan Arnold, Royce Paul and Tori Hippolyte.
In reply, MELIUS CHALLENGERS was restricted to 94 for 9 in their 20 overs, with Dillan John making 32 not out, Stephen Abraham 29 and Royce Paul 10.
The wicket takers for EDWARD BLASTERS were; Caleb Thomas with 3 for 16 in 3 overs, Keon Gaston with 2 for 7 in 2 overs, Stavone Gabriel with 2 for 19 in 3 overs and one wicket each to Kester Charlemagne (1 for 4 in 3 overs), and Darvin Forde.
The Man Of The Match Award went to Shawnil Edward for his explosive inning of 38. The tournament continues on Thursday, February 2, with a 25 over a side Developmental match amongst Under 15 male together with Under 19 female players from 5:30 pm at the Gros Islet Playing Field of Saint Lucia.
