Saint Lucia: Education Minister congratulates four awardees of Hungarian Scholarship

Minister for Education Shawn Edward, Permanent Secretary and officials from the Human Resource Development Unit had a sit down with the four awardees of the Hungarian Scholarship as they prepare to leave the island to commence studies.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Minister for Education Shawn Edward, Permanent Secretary and officials from the Human Resource Development Unit had a sit down with the four awardees of the Hungarian Scholarship as they prepare to leave the island to commence studies.

“You are now not only ambassadors to your country, but pioneers as you will always be known as the first group of students to access and benefit from this scholarship offered by the people and Government of Hungary,” said Minister Edward. “Do your best, work hard and be sure to embrace change and the culture.”

An educational cooperation Memorandum was signed in 2021 between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary and the Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development Innovation, Science Technology, and Vocational Training of Saint Lucia until December 31, 2023.

The objective of the memorandum is to foster and strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries and to promote cooperation in the field of higher education.

Saint Lucians can expect to apply for the Hungarian scholarship yearly and compete to capture one of the five spaces available for the full fledge higher education program.
