Saint Lucia Football Association announced that the country earned a decisive 1 – 0 victory over Sam Marino to remain unbeaten in the two International Friendlies played.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia Football Association announced that the country earned a decisive 1 – 0 victory over Sam Marino to remain unbeaten in the two International Friendlies played.

Saint Lucia’s lone goal was scored by captain Kurt Frederick with a penalty in the 69th min. Commenting after the game Coach Stern John lamented the fact that the team was unable to put away the chances on offer but in the end was happy to escape with the three points.

He credited San Marino for the high level of organisation on the pitch indicating that is where he would like to see St. Lucia in the future. In the end they provided good competitive opposition for his young team.

Stern also took the opportunity to thank the fans for turning up to support the team. During the half time, Kenson Casimir and Guibion Ferdinand presented gifts on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers presented Gifts to the San Marino delegation. At the same time Vice President of the SLFA Inc. presented a gift on behalf of the organisation to San Marino.

Saint Lucia effected five substitutions to their opponents six. They received four cautions including one expulsion while San Marino received seven.

The SLFA Inc. has been in discussion with officials of the Ministry of Education regarding a new initiative which it intends to undertake within the Schools’ system. The said initiative requires the SLFA Inc with the input of the Ministry to identify 25 Primary Schools to be included in this programme.

To date the collaborative effort has realised the proposing of the said 25 schools. The programme is termed Generation Amazing and is supported by Concacaf and sponsored by the Supreme Committee for the Delivery and Legacy of the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

To this end the selected schools have been written to informing them of the nature of the programme which centres around the issue of Football Development as is a departure from the traditional Football Development.

The SLFA Inc. anticipates that the schools would embrace this initiative as the outcomes from such a programme would redound to the benefit of the school, community and Saint Lucia.

The Generation Amazing Foundation programme will target 25 students from the selected schools between the age of 8 – 12 years, where Football will be used as a vehicle to tackle some of the social ills in the communities; empower youth and improve communities and by extension Saint Lucia.

Football for social development will examine issues such as Life Skills, Values, Promoting Non violence, Bullying and Youth Empowerment.

The underlying vision of the programme is to build a legacy in communities that go well beyond the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup.

Under 15 Football

The scheduled match between Castries Comprehensive Sec. and St. Mary’s College did not materialise as Compre was unable to full a team. As a result, SMC was awarded the points.

Under 19 Football In the lone scheduled game at the SAB materialised on Friday 18th November. Saint Lucia Sports Academy defeated Castries Comprehensive 5 – 0. Traylon Henry scored a hat trick in the 34th, 38th and 45th min with the others coming from Adriano Auguste 8th min and Eymani Butcher in the 53rd min.
