Castries, Saint Lucia: Fourteen-year-old student-athlete and cyclist Seraphina Williams from Saint Lucia will make her Caribbean debut this month on the French-speaking island of Martinique.
Ministry of Youth Development and Sports took to Facebook and announced the participation of the cyclist in the Caribbean cicuit. On Sunday 30th April, Seraphina competed in the Saint Lucia Cycling Association 51 Kilometer Road race from Castries Waterfront roundabout to Mega J roundabout. Her third event for 2023.
A student of the Beanfield Comprehensive Secondary School (BCSS) in Vieux Fort, she was the lone female cyclist in the 6-lap event out of 12 competitors, she finishes 6th overall in a time of 1 hour 47 minutes 37.38 seconds.
The event was won by 23 years old, Klivert Mitchel in a time of 1 hour 25 minutes 57:13 seconds. For Seraphina, it all started when her dad introduced her to the sport, and along the way, the President of the Saint Lucia Cycling Association (SLCA), Cyril Mangal encouraged her to continue.
According to Seraphina, she has a connection to cycling and believes she will do well in the sport. Her dream is to represent Saint Lucia at regional and international events. She appealed to motorists to take it easy on our highways and byways when approaching a cyclist. The Ministry of Youth Development and Sports wishes Seraphina Williams all the best in her cycling career.

Recently, the Saint Lucia Game Fishing Association also seeks to revitalize the sport of Game Fishing in Saint Lucia, with the commitment from the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports to support and develop this alternative sport.
Team Reel Extreme headed over to Barbados to compete in the Republic Bank 2023 Charles Williams International Game Fishing Tournament, hosted by the Barbados Game Fishing Association.
