The Saturday Morning Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Development Program commenced its 2023 programming on January 21 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Saturday Morning Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Development Program commenced its 2023 programming on January 21 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia. 

The session was well attended, with eighty six (86) young exciting cricketers enjoying the 5-hour-long training session in Saint Lucia. 

The activities took the following format:

* Prayers/ Welcome/ Introductions etc.

* Ice breaking activity (enjoyable)

* Warm-up activities; Flexibility/ Agility/ Catching games.

* Physical Conditioning; focus on the core area.

* Catching/ Fielding drills and exercises.

* Nets.

* Game sense match scenarios.

* Introduction to hard ball with younger participants including Fielding, Catching and Batting age group 4-10 years.

The coaches who conducted the training session were; Alton Crafton, Allian Ashby, Mateo Boulogne and Malika Edward. The logistical support was arranged by Thomas Elcock.

The 2023 Gros Islet District Representative Cricket Tournament to start on January 25. The tournament will take the form of 20/20 matches during week days and 50 over matches on weekends among the four senior teams.

A number of Developmental matches will be played between two teams ages 15 years and under together with female under 19 players during the tournament.

More Developmental matches will also be played among Junior players ages 13 years and under.

The Players Selection Draft for the senior teams took place on Thursday, January 19 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

The four teams were represented by their team managers and captains.

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports/ Gros Islet Community After-school Cricket Training Program continued on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. 

Saint Lucia has always worked for the development of the sporting events such as Netball, Volleyball, Cricket, Boxing and Football tournaments.
