Castries, Saint Lucia: Anse Chastanet Jade Mountain received two awards at the 41st National Sports awards in Saint Lucia, which was held on February 18, 2023.

The SLHTA congratulates member ANSE CHASTANET Saint Lucia / JADE MOUNTAIN Saint Lucia on receiving two awards at the 41st National Sports Awards held on February 18, 2023.

The company was recognized for its significant contribution to sports programming and development, receiving a Minister’s Award as well as a Corporate Sponsor Award.

Minister for Youth Development and Sports Kenson Casimir commended the company for contributing immensely to the sporting landscape of Soufriere and Saint Lucia by extension.

The renovation of the Soufriere basketball court, Mini Stadium and Netball Court; the provision of uniforms and equipment to Soufriere sports teams; and sponsorship of District Eight Track & Field Meets, Soufriere Independence Track Meet, Soufriere Female Football Team and Soufriere Football League Youth Tournament, were some of the highlighted interventions.

Minister Casimir stated: “They’ve been involved in sports such as football, basketball, netball and cricket; whether it’s investing in the infrastructure or sponsoring and even organizing some sports tournaments…In a time where sponsorship for programmes and activities for sports has dried up, the Troubetzkoy name stands supreme in their investment in the most difficult period of sports history in our nation. And so the Minister’s Award for Stellar Contribution to the Development of Sport in Saint Lucia goes to Anse Chastanet /Jade Mountain.”

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA), I wish all Saint Lucians at home and abroad a happy 44th Anniversary of Independence. The Helen of the West has come a long way since 1979 and we have much to celebrate on this special day.

Our sons and daughters continue to fly the flag high across the world in a multitude of disciplines including sports, business, education, literature and film. The island’s tourism industry has gone from strength to strength, establishing the country as one of the leading destinations in the Caribbean and the world.
