Saint Lucia announces nine athletes for 2023 CARIFTA swimming championship

The Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation has named nine swimmers who will represent Saint Lucia at the 2023 Carifta Swimming Championship, which is scheduled to be held from April 3rd to the 11th, 2023 at the Pisina “Enith Brigitha” in CURAÇAO.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Saint Lucia Aquatics Federation has named nine swimmers who will represent Saint Lucia at the 2023 Carifta Swimming Championship, which is scheduled to be held from April 3rd to the 11th, 2023 at the Pisina “Enith Brigitha” in CURAÇAO.

The countries which will be competing in the competitions are Aruba, Bahamas, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, to name a few. The competitions will be conducted in accordance with WORLD AQUATICS Rules 2022 – 2025 in force at the start of the competition. 

WORLD AQUATICS Rule SW4.4 shall be applied. Competitors will compete in the following age groups: 11-12 Females and males, 13-14 Female and males, and 15-17 Females and Males.

Following Saint Lucia Athletics Federation Independence Swimming Championship and the Meeting Air Caraibes in Martinique, the technical team announced the swimmers with the qualifying standards.

These swimmers include;

Boys

  • 11-12 Noah Dorville
  • 13-14 Antoine Destang
  • 15-17 Tristan Dorville
  • 15-17 Karic Charles
  • 15-17 Ethan Hazell
  • 15-17 D’andre Blanchard

Girls

  • 13-14 Fayth Jeffery
  • 15-17 Naima Hazell
  • 15-17 Naekeisha Louis

President Eddie Hazell noted, “I acknowledge that it will a tough championship as most of our swimmers have aged up but I am confident that based on their recent performances and the work they have been putting in, they will continue to make us proud.”

During the period of preparation, the team will be seeking to achieve the qualifying standards for the upcoming CCCAN. Saint Lucia Athletics Federation looks forward to preparing its swimmers for this prestigious sporting competition, Carifta 2023. 

The 2023 Carifta Aquatics Championships will now be held in the alternate country, Curacao April 8th to 11th 2023. The 36th CARIFTA Swimming, Artistic Swimming, Water Polo and Open Water Championships 2023 are scheduled for this Easter Holiday in April and Curaçao has been selected as the host country for this grand event.
