Castries, Saint Lucia: The 2023 Gros Islet Domestic Cricket Tournament, sponsored by District Representative; Kenson Casimir, continued on Sunday, January 29, with a 50 over a side game at the Gros Islet Playing Field. Contesting this game were GOODMAN WARRIORS and MELIUS CHALLENGERS.
MELIUS CHALLENGERS batting first made 302 for 7 in their allocated 50 overs, with Amari Venner top scoring with a well-constructed 94 not out with 15 fours and 1 six, Keygan Arnold an aggressive 87, inclusive of 13 fours and 3 sixes, Sanjay Francis 25 not out, Bolton Sayers 23 and Sanjay Hayle 17 in Saint Lucia.
The wicket takers for GOODMAN WARRIORS were; Qwaine Henry with 3 for 56 in 9 overs, Lee John 2 for 58 in 10 overs and 1 wicket each to Zayee Antione and Kevin Gassie.
In reply, GOODMAN WARRIORS, led by half centuries from Zidane Arthur and Skipper Jard Goodman comfortably got to their target, finishing on 303 for 6 in 40.4 overs.
Zidane Arthur made a good-looking 66 with 10 fours and 3 sixes, captain Jard Goodman an attacking 50 with 3 fours and 5 sixes, Zayee Antione 49 not out, Lee John 39 not out, Jamaal James 35 and Noelle Leo 29 in Saint Lucia.
The wicket takers for MELIUS CHALLENGERS were; Sanjay Hayle with 3 for 64 in 10 overs and 1 wicket to Royce Paul and Skipper Khan Elcock.
The Man of the Match award went to Jard Goodman for his match winning inning of 50.
The tournament continues with a T20 match-up between Goodman Warriors and Gerson Strikers on Tuesday, January 31 from 6:00 pm at the Gros Islet Playing Field.
