Saint Lucia: 2022 Interdistrict Cricket Tournament begins, know here details

In a match reduced to 10 overs a side due to rain, Gros Islet winning the toss and batting first made 67 for 2 in their allotted overs with Captain Malika Edward making 28 not out, Skyy Smith 17 and Cian Felix 5.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The 2022 Saint Lucia National Cricket Association Alicia John 20/20 Interdistrict Cricket Tournament got on the way on Saturday, September 24, 2022 with Gros Islet coming up against Choiseul at the Mindoo Phillip Park.

In a match reduced to 10 overs a side due to rain, Gros Islet winning the toss and batting first made 67 for 2 in their allotted overs with Captain Malika Edward making 28 not out, Skyy Smith 17 and Cian Felix 5.

The wicket takers for the Choiseul ladies were Shernia Cooper and Julia Simon with one wicket each.

In reply, Choiseul finished on 55 for 5 in their 10 overs, with Shernia Cooper making 11 and Christina Williams 9. The wicket takers for the Gros Islet ladies were, Selena Ross and Cian Felix with one wicket each.

RESULTS: GROS ISLET FEMALE TEAM DEFEATED CHOISEUL FEMALE TEAM BY 12 RUNS

The regular Saturday morning Northern Cluster Grassroots Cricket Development Program continued on September 24, 2022 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground with a very productive training session.

Sixty-one (61) young male and female cricketers thoroughly enjoyed the 3 1/2 hour long sessions which took the following format;

* Prayers/ Welcome etc.

* Warm-up activities (an exciting catching game).

* Physical Conditioning.

* Game sense in Fielding (crow hop method & target throwing).

* High and close catching.

* Game sense in a match setting for older participants.

* Mini cricket match for younger participants.

The coaches who conducted the training session were, Alton Crafton, Vernillius Gabriel and Mateo Boulonge. Logistical support was done by Mr Thomas Elcock. 

The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Gros Islet Afterschool/ Community Cricket Training Program continued on Friday September 23, 2022 with optional training at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground. The Northern Cluster Grassroots/ Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Gros Islet Afterschool/ Community Cricket Training Program continued on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.
