Safety and security of Dominica citizens is our priority: PM Skerrit

Prime Minister of Dominica Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, through his recent episode of Annou Pale on Sunday, highlighted the achievements and developments of his government. He mentioned that the safety and security of the Dominicans is our paramount importance.

By underscoring his government’s step in the time of the pandemic, PM Skerrit noted,” Despite the effect of COVID-19 on lives and livelihoods of Dominicans, our government have ensured that every citizen has access to testing, life-saving vaccines and specialized care”.

PM also asserted that Dominica administered had provided every facility to the citizen in the pandemic, which the big economies countries struggled to provide.

” On our small island, people get free COVID-19 testing facilities, and public sector employees get regular salaries. We have also maintained the circle of the balanced economy on the country, in which most of the big country lagged,” PM Skerrit highlighted.

Speaking about the achievements of the Dominica administration, the prime minister underscored that the government would sign the contract for construction to begin the development of the International Airport at the end of this month.

While signifies the contract, PM added,” It is a vital project for the government and Dominicans as it can transform our country’s economy. The project will benefit the current and future generations as it will pave the way for development”.

Prime Minister further asserted that the government’s housing programme with key handed over to families continues. ” I was delighted to be part of the ceremony of handing over the keys to 12 beneficiaries of home under the Government’s Housing Recovery Project“, PM added.

PM also noted that 31 climate-resilient homes are on the edge of completion at Welsely. He said that the government would rebuild 420 homes, of which 103 homes are currently under construction, and we will make up to 1000 houses this year.

By mentioning the developments in the health sector, PM added,” Dominica administration is strengthening the primary healthcare sector. Many new health and wellness centres opened at different places in the country. Moreover, the government is addressing the needs of patients at the community level, focusing on prevention and care”.
