Report: Jamaica sees hike in flight booking from US travellers

Jamaica: According to recently published data from – online travel agency cheap oair, Jamaica island is among the seven places that have seen a hike of more than 100 per cent in flight bookings from US travellers in the month of April 2021, compared to the month of January 2021.

The report states that “US travellers have nearly doubled bookings to the foreign destinations, which is up 89 per cent year to date.”

Glenn Cusano, – Co-CEO and CFO of Fareportal, the parent company of Cheap Oair and One Travel, stated, “COVID-19 vaccination is continuing to roll out across the US, so the American consumer is becoming more confident where travelling is concerned. This, coupled with the severe hygiene rules put in place by airlines and airports globally, is rising interest in booking airline tickets to worldwide destinations.”

In the month of April, US travellers top ten global destinations, ranked by per cent in the increase in bookings, are – Greece, revealing a – 337% increase in the airline ticket bookings when compared to the numbers of January month, Israel – 259%, the Bahamas at – 203%, Jamaica at – 143%, the Dominican Republic at – 134%, Costa Rica at – 106%, Puerto Rico at – 103 %, Mexico – 95%, El Salvador at – 67% and India- 19%.

Glenn further asserted, “The most recent data from the – CDC shows that 58.5% Americans received at least – 1 dose of their COVID-19 vaccine, which is a – 79% increase from lightly more than 1 month ago.”

“Air travel figures are moving upward, and we expect them to continue to increase as summer hits in the northern hemisphere.”
