The Ministry of Health has released today's (December 6, 2021) COVID-19 vaccination schedule of the vaccination sites across the island country. 

Bridgetown, Barbados: The Ministry of Health has released today’s (December 6, 2021) COVID-19 vaccination schedule of the vaccination sites across the island country. 

Following is the list of vaccination centres that will operate their service today: 

  • Sharon Moravian Church Hall, Sharon, St. Thomas, will remain open from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm. 
  • Masonic Centre, Salters, St. George, will remain open from 10 am to 2:30 pm. 

The vaccination sites will provide doses of the WHO-approved Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sinopharm and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines to the adult population of Barbados. 

On the other hand, for the age group of 12 to 18 years, only Pzifer COVID vaccine doses would be administered at the vaccination centres and pop-up clinics. 

Things individuals must carry while going to take the COVID vaccine: 

Those arriving at the immunisation sites to take their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine must carry their identification card. While the ones who are coming to receive their second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine are required to come along with their blue vaccination card.  

The island is also administering booster shots of the Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines, accessible to the citizens of 18 years old and above, who had their required number of doses six months earlier. 

The health ministry further informed that the persons coming to take their booster shots must carry either their blue vaccination card or vaccination certificate at the COVID-19 vaccination sites. 

Vaccination statistics in Barbados: 

To date, around 53.5 percent of the total population has been vaccinated with atleast one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. In comparison, a total of 47.7 percent of the total Barbados population has received their required number of doses and are now fully vaccinated against the deadliest virus.

Apart from this, CMO Dr Kenneth George cited that the government at present is keeping an eye on the situation of the new COVID variant ‘Omicron’, adding that the borders have been put on high alert.Â
