Nevis: Nevis Culturama Festival outlined the profile of the five 2022 Miss Cultural Contestants in the ongoing Culturama Festival. The name of the five contestants is Senica Williams, 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐥è𝐢𝐳𝐞 Smithen, Shamarley Newton, Chalisa Parris, and Rockelle Hendrickson.

• 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐬: 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐥𝐞𝐜: 2022 Miss Culture Contestant No. 1

“Be the best version of yourself” This is a philosophy adopted by 22-year-old Sencia Williams. Ambitious, kind, and loving are just a few adjectives that describe this Taurean masterpiece. This generous soul was born on the 2nd of May 2000, in the Queen of the Caribees, Nevis. She resides in the lovely unspoiled village of Spring Hill in Nevis.

Sencia is passionate about music. She describes music as an entertaining force, relaxing and relieving. She enjoys singing, dancing and exploring the world around her. Back in her younger years, she enjoyed playing one of our cultural instruments. the Steelpan. At an early age, her parents realized she harnessed a love for pageantry. Sencia also believes that entering pageants will be an avenue for her to express her talents, boost her confidence and self esteem, all while fostering the characteristics of a queen.

She currently operates in the capacity of an office clerk for Eyecare Express in St. Kitts.

Sencia attended the Violet O. Jeffers Nicholls Primary School, Charlestown Secondary School and Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College where she performed exceptionally well and left all schools successfully. 

Her future goal is a work in progress which is to one day become a Lawyer to balance the law and justice within our Federation, where she can defend clients to ensure that their constitutive rights are not violated. This also aligns with her vision to continue and expand her father’s business I-Land Cut Stone.

Her future career as a lawyer, fuels her will to help others. She notes, helping others may just be the secret to living a life that is not only happier, but it is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving. Fun fact about Sencia is she is hoping to go skydiving one day, which is on her bucket list. Until then she will just share her love, passion and pride with the world. Culture is the Arts elevated to a set of beliefs and Sencia Williams is happy to be an artist to add her unique creativity.

• 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐥è𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐒𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧: 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐒. 𝐋. 𝐇𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 & 𝐂𝐨. 𝐋𝐭𝐝- 2022 Miss Culture Contestant No. 2

On Tuesday 10th May 2002 the world and Federation of St.Kitts and Nevis welcomed a charismatic warm hearted gem by the name of Shaléize Smithen.

At the age of two she ventured on to The St. Johnson Pre-School where she received her first level of education. Shaléize was always at the top of her class. There were times her former pre-school teacher Ms. Elsie Mills would beg her aunt Ms. Sharline Halliday to cut back on the lessons at home because Shaléize didn’t allow the other students a chance to participate in class activities. 

In the year 2007 Shaléize continued her education at the Joycelyn Liburd Primary School where her venture for Track & Field began, but her journey didn’t end there. In the year 2012 she then attended the Dr. William Connor Primary School where her love for Track took off. Later that same year she became the Under 11 Champion which inspired her to participate in other sporting activities. She played various sports which include Tennis, Football, Netball,Cricket and Volleyball. However those sports did not have such a strong impact on her like Track did. 

Not only did Shaléize excell in sports but she did so academically. She graduated from the Dr.William Connor Primary School with the “Promising Athlete Of The Year Award” and was one point away from receiving the “Victrix Ludorum” award.

 

Shaléize was welcomed in the home of the Wild Cats at the Washington Archibald High School where she continued to persue her love for track. However, balancing sports and academics became challenging as training became more intense. As time went on and her love for academics increased. History became her favorite subject which peeked her interest resulting in her wanting to learn more about her ancestors and the African culture.

During her leisure time Shaleize enjoys dancing, daily workouts and watching TV shows such as Law and Order which inspired her to become a lawyer in the near future.

“I dare to make a difference”. Guided by the song “Save a life” by Shaggy and Friends, it has made a positive impact on the way Shaléize lives her day to day life and it has inspired her to become the woman she is today.

• 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐭𝐨𝐧: 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐭. 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐬-𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐤- 2022 Miss Culture contestant No 3

Shamarley Newton is nothing short of the embodiment of excellence. Her persistence and tenacity is what makes Shamarley Newton truly remarkable. For 18 years, she has been a symbol of educational, culinary, artistic and entrepreneurial excellence.

From starting her very first business at age of 14 Glamm By Shamm Makeup Artistry to dancing, entering pageants and performing all while maintaining exceptional grades throughout her secondary and tertiary education. Shamarley over the years, has blossomed and evolved into an immaculate performer and entertainer. This shining star brings life to each and every single performance. She understands the assignment and executes with grand style.

Shamarley unlocked another level of talent as she became a member of the Unchained Model Agency. At this point Shamarley proved she is a force to be reckoned with as she struts down the runway fearlessly. It was also an avenue for this scholar to unlock and showcase her stellar public speaking skills being the lead talk show host of a TV Show dubbed “Tool Kit” uplifting and highlighting youths of the Federation. 

This was a stepping stone for Shamarley to then enter her second pageant the Miss STT Fest Teen Pageant and she captured the 1st runner up position.

Her continued achievements alluded to her successfully completing her secondary schooling and entering into her tertiary education studying Business Management and Law. As she continues to climb up on her pedestal, in the midst of a pandemic, Shamarley decided to further exercise her independence and launch her online business namely “Glam Closet” where she specializes in ladies clothing, accessories and party decorations. All of her distinct leadership skills, compassion, zestful personality and resilient qualities came into play when she opened her new business.

Shamarley at her young age has already contributed immensely to her community by planning what is said to be an annual family event the Glam Closet Fun day and Pop up shop, which fosters togetherness between many families in the community. She also decided to exercise her culinary skills and started yet another business called “Shamarley’s Lunch On The Go”.

Shamarley is now a chef at the renowned 5 star Four Seasons Resort.

Shamarley Newton is without a doubt an outstanding individual with a remarkably bright future ahead of her, as continues to autograph the lives she touches with her countless achievements.

• 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐬: 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧- Miss Culture contestant No. 4

On October 7th, 2003, the universe was in awe when this star was ushered into its galaxy. Eighteen year old Chalisa Parris was born on the beautiful island of Nevis and raised in the village of Cotton Ground by her musician father and charwoman mother.

Chalisa grew up in a large family and learnt at an early age that family was the most essential aspect of her existence. From her point of view, family is not just those people with whom she has blood ties but also those who accept you for who you are, hold your hands when you need it the most, the ones who would do things to make you smile. etc. 

One quote which cemented her and her family in life is that “Trials are not a reason to give up, our pain is not an excuse to quit being strong.” It is against this backdrop she is proud to say that she entered the St. Thomas’ Parish Teen pageant twice and was unsuccessful at winning.

Notably, the pageant fashioned a way for a new experience each time. 

These experiences along with not giving any excuse to remain strong has stirred her determination to participate in this Ms. Culture Queen Pageant 2022. Ms. Parris attended the Charlestown Secondary School and graduated with her Diploma in 2020. She also loves surfing the web.

Chalisa doesn’t create excuses as she wants victory. Victory is only possible for the persons who refuse to stop fighting.

• 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧: 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐅𝐋𝐎𝐖- Miss Culture contestant No. 5

On September 5th, 2002, was the birth of a “melanated” beauty. Filled with potential and promise, with a personality that exceeds the parameters of your imagination. A diamond in the rough, a powerhouse of explosive talent. The world wasn’t ready for Rockelle Hendrickson.

With this infectious personality, Rockelle believes that perseverance and hard work breeds success. Being raised in the quaint and quiet village of Maynard’s Ground, Gingerland, she grew a passion for helping others in any way possible. A trait she holds dear, as she wishes to embark on studies to become a nurse. Leisurely, she takes gratification in hiking, painting and spending time at the beach.

 Being a fun and adventurous individual, Rockelle pounces on every opportunity to self-advancement. It is with this mindset; she took up the responsibility of becoming an ambassador in this year’s Ms. Culture Queen Pageant. Although small in stature, she plans on making a big impact in her community and the world at large.

This 19-year-old believes in the preservation of our culture and is eager to showcase that in this staging of the pageant. Given the current situation around the world where women are still being denied their rights, Rockelle wishes to amplify the issues that women face today. There is strength in numbers and as a foundation has been laid for the empowerment of women, Rockelle capitalizes on this very moment and proudly establishes her platform – Women Empowerment.
