Nubia Williams; music educator, adjudicator for Steelband and calypso, steelpan examiner and pannist was one of the first two graduates of the B.A. Musical Arts programme at the University of the West Indies and has served as the elected representative on the Association for Caribbean Music Educators.

St Kitts and Nevis: Nubia Williams; music educator, adjudicator for Steelband and calypso, steelpan examiner and pannist was one of the first two graduates of the B.A. Musical Arts programme at the University of the West Indies and has served as the elected representative on the Association for Caribbean Music Educators. 

She has taught music at primary, secondary and tertiary levels and has been judging music home and abroad for the past twenty-eight years. Some of those competitions include the International Soca Monarch, National Calypso Monarch Kings and Queens, National Panorama, Steelband Music Festivals and countless other calypso and soca competitions on both school and national levels.

Williams held the position of Regional Coordinator for seven years with the Pan in the Classroom Unit, Ministry of Education in Trinidad and has also held the positions of PRO, 2nd Vice President, and External Relations Officer with the Pan in Schools Coordinating Council for ten years. She was the music consultant with the University of the West Indies on the latest review of the National Music Curriculum for Primary Schools. 

In 2019 year she trained the judges for the National Arts Festival Competition (SANFEST) and was involved, in preparing judges for the Junior Panorama Competition. Williams also does commentary for the Trinidad and Tobago National Panorama Competition.

She has experience in teacher training, managing gifted artistes, talent development and is the Trinidad and Tobago delegate on the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children.

In her quest to contribute to cultural advancement with a focus on calypso, soca and steelpan, Nubia has conceptualized and implemented a host of workshops over the years including Calypso and Soca Adjudication, Pan Arranging, Creativity in the use of Percussion, Computer Music Programmes as well as (Steelband Judging in Antigua since 2005) and continues to be an ardent proponent of the Arts worldwide.
