Quarantine period in St Kitts and Nevis reduced to 3 days for vaccinated travellers

The government of the Caribbean island of St. Kitts and Nevis has reduced the quarantine period for the travellers from nine days to three days for those coming to the island who are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Saint Kitts and Nevis: The government of the Caribbean island of St. Kitts and Nevis has reduced the quarantine period for the travellers from nine days to three days for those coming to the island who are fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 pandemic.

During his national address on Saturday, July 10, 2021, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Timothy Harris, made the announcement that fully vaccinated travellers would only be needed to quarantine for three days upon their arrival into the sister-island Federation.

“Children under the age of 18 years and who are accompanying their fully vaccinated parents or guardians would be treated the same as their parents or guardians in relation to the period of quarantine,” the Prime Minister of the island added.

Following the statement, PM Harris cited that the regular 14-day quarantine period for unvaccinated individuals remains the same.
He further noted that the travellers could quarantine themselves at a government-approved facility or a hotel offering vacation in place.

He went on and informed that “A home quarantine is possible but must be given approval by the National COVID-19 Task Force, and private security must be contracted to secure the premises.”

This reduced quarantine announcement by the prime minister comes on the basis of a decision taken by the Cabinet of Ministers to decrease the travel tax for the upcoming next six months.

Earlier, Prime Minister Harris noted that “The measure was taken to increase visitor arrival thereby creating additional income generating opportunities for the people in the tourism and hospitality industry.”

However, all the travellers coming to the Caribbean sister island would still be needed to submit a negative RT-PCR Test that is three days prior to their arrival in the Federation.

PM Harris has also eliminated the lockdown which was imposed on the sister island while the night curfew remains in effect that is 9 pm to 5 am daily.
