Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit gets the first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine in his office on 23 February 2021 at Roseau.

Dominica:Prime Minister of Dominica Roosevelt Skerrit gets the first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine in his office on 23 February 2021 at Roseau.

During the vaccination, the prime Minister was quite comfortable; nurses were also making the situation comfortable & instructing him to follow the steps.

After the vaccination Prime Minister said, ” The vaccination was very simple; this is a great experience. ” 

Prime Minister Skerrit is supposed to be the next jab on April 20th, 2021. 

He also ensures that his government full do its all efforts to get vaccines over the time.

He added,” We are working with American Health Organization for COVEX facilities, and we expect it gets the quantity of vaccines.”

He also revealed the reality of the world’s current situation as many countries are demanding vaccines from the countries who are producing & manufacturing the vaccines, as Dominica is a bit lower down in order. Still, fortunately, Dominica beats the long line and gets 70k doses of vaccine.

He also notified the people that there is no fear to take the vaccine & it has very lower side effects such as mild fever.

PM Skerrit also said that we are hoping that soon tourism would start so that the Dominican economy should come back on track & the government should get tax, which will be spent on the country’s development. 

He stated that the country would be received 20,000 doses of vaccine from the People’s Republic of China, and by March 2021, the vaccine from the COVAX facility is also expected to arrive.

Recently, President Charles Savarin and some other government officials received the vaccine delivered from India as a gift.

On Monday, 22 February, Dominica starts its coronavirus vaccination drive for the general public, which would immunize the vulnerable. The vaccine drive is initiated in all seven health districts of the country.
