Prime Minister Keith Rowley to visit Barbados to meet high-level US representatives 

Firstly, the meeting will be held on Tuesday, where PM Rowley will meet with U.S. Senator Chris Dodd. The name of Chris Dodd has been nominated for the Special Advisor for the Summit of the Americas by the President of the United States- "Joe Biden".

Trinidad and Tobago: Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley will be departed from Trinidad and Tobago to visit Barbados on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. The purpose of his visit to the country is to participate in a series of meeting and diplomatic talks with high-level representatives of the United States. 

Firstly, the meeting will be held on Tuesday, where PM Rowley will meet with U.S. Senator Chris Dodd. The name of Chris Dodd has been nominated for the Special Advisor for the Summit of the Americas by the President of the United States- “Joe Biden”. 

Besides this, Senator Dodd could probably also hold the meeting with the other CARICOM leaders in Barbados. 

Further, the schedule of PM Rowley for Wednesday, April 20, 2022, will be started with a roundtable discussion on De-Risking and Correspondent Banking.

The routable discussion will be co-hosted by U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) with Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley. Waters is a Chairwoman of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services.

Chairwoman Waters will be accompanied at the meeting by members of the Financial Services Committee and other members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Other CARICOM Heads of Government, the CARICOM and OECS Secretaries-General and the President of the Caribbean Development Bank are also expected to attend.

CARICOM leaders and Congresswoman Maxine Waters will continue their discussion on the De-Risking and Correspondent Banking which a number of engagements have commenced since 2019. 

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley already held a meeting with Congresswoman waters during his visit to Washington D.C. in 2019. In addition to that, he also held a meeting with her in March 2021, when he chaired Trinidad and Tobago’s Conference of Heads of the government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). 

Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Senator the Hon Dr Amery Browne, will accompany the Prime Minister on this trip.

Further, until Prime Minister Keith Rowley’s return to Trinidad and Tobago, Minister of Finance Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister of the country.
