Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali shared a glimpse of his meeting with different personalities in Guyana on Wednesday, March 30, 2022. He commenced talks and discussions on several topics of concern, such as business, entrepreneurship, and diplomatic relations.

Firstly, Dr Irfaan Ali received a visit from local entrepreneur and budding lawyer Joshua Edward at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive on Wednesday afternoon. The Shiv Chanderpaul Drive was launched by President Ali on Monday, March 28, 2022, in Guyana.

Edward, who recently obtained a law degree from the University of Guyana, started his small business with his mother selling pizza on campus after he was almost barred from sitting an exam in 2020 due to financial constraints.

Since then, the business has blossomed. The young man said that his small business took him through UG and supported him through tough times, especially during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

While sharing his life experiences, Edward noted, “There were days I didn’t eat on campus or had bus money, and the pizza was solving the problems. I hold it dear to my heart.”

Edward is currently pursuing a Legal Education Certificate (LEC) at the University of Law and Business in England.

Residents of Guyana shred their experiences as one of the residents Guyana named Railey Freeman said, “I hope after this visit they can come to a decision to make the University of Guyana more affordable for Guyanese. Don’t just take a photo OP and all the inspiration die as he walks out from that photo opportunity.”
