Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali and a high-level Cabinet team met with the President of ExxonMobil Guyana, Alistair Routledge, and two other ExxonMobil officials on the afternoon of Thursday April 6, 2022.
The meeting was held at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.
As per the reports, discussions were focused on the establishment of the Guyana Technical Training Institute. The Government of Guyana and the oil giant agreed to collaborate to provide certified courses in the oil and gas industry for Guyanese students.
Vice President, Dr Bharrat Jagdeo; Senior Minister within the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh; Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat; Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond and Minister of Public Service, Sonia Parag were also at the meeting.
On the same day, Thursday, April 6, 2022, the President of Guyana Dr Irfaan Ali received a courtesy visit from the President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), Justice Adrian Saunders. The meeting between the two delegations was held at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.
Several senior members of the Government, including Prime Minister, Brigadier (Ret’d), Mark Phillips; Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo and Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, the Honourable Anil Nandlall were also present.
Justice Saunders is in Guyana for three days and is expected to attend the Guyana Bar Association’s 2022 Law Week of Activities.
This afternoon, Dr Irfaan Ali also held the awatrd giving ceremony of the Outstanding Cambridge Learners Award to School of the Nations’ sixth-form student John McGrath.
The teen of Guyana was given the prize and title of the World’s Top Student for Cambridge International Advanced Subsidiary (AS) English Language after securing 99 marks out of 100 in the June 2021 Examinations.
His result was better than over one million students from across 136 countries.
