Guyana: Dr Irfaan ALi, President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, attended the Guyana Defence Force’s (GDF) Medal Presentation Parade at Base Camp Ayanganna yesterday (March 30, 2022).
Commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces also presented several soldiers, including officers with medals at the Guyana Defence Force’s Medal Presentation Parade at Base Camp Ayanganna.
He also address the event and encouraged the soldiers and outlined the significance of the responsibility towards the country and its safety and security. President Ali further presented sixteen GDF ranks with the Military Efficiency Medal (MEM).
The cadres have been awarded by the President of Guyana for their extremely great job in the field and continuous service with passion and a sense of responsibility.
Guyana President has awarded the sixteen GDF rank with Military Efficacies Medal (MEM) and to ranks who would have completed ten years of continuous service with good conduct.
The nomination has been conducted by the Chief of Staff Brigadier Godfrey Bess for the wards and the above-mentioned recommendations have been declared by the Medal Awards Committee (MAC), the awardees were approved by the Chief of Staff Brigadier Godfrey Bess.
Further, the President of Guyana has awarded the ten ranks with the Border defence Medal. These category medals have been awarded to ranks who would have had cumulative service on a border location in excess of one year.
The Office of the President stated that to get ranked in the awards of the Armed Forces in Guyana, as with the Military Efficiency Medal (MEM), recommendations by the MAC and approval by the Chief of Staff were also required.
It has also informed that around Seventy-four ranks, including seven officers, will receive the Border Defence Medal.
On the other hand, eighty-one ranks, twenty-four of whom are officers, have met the requirement for the MEM.
President Ali was joined by Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn; Chief of Staff of the GDF, Brigadier Godfrey Bess; Police Commissioner (ag), Clifton Hicken and other government officials.
