President Ali presented Instruments of Commission to GDF officers

The President of the Caribbean island of Guyana - Dr Irfaan Ali, yesterday presented Instruments of Commission to officers who were successful at the Guyana Defence Force - GDF, Standard Officers’ Course- SOC, 48 and 52, and State Warrants to Warrant Officers.

Guyana: The President of the Caribbean island of Guyana – Dr Irfaan Ali, yesterday presented Instruments of Commission to officers who were successful at the Guyana Defence Force – GDF, Standard Officers’ Course- SOC, 48 and 52, and State Warrants to Warrant Officers.

The Commissioned Officers and Warrant Officers took their oaths prior to a special ceremony at State House. GDF Chief of Staff Brigadier Godfrey Bess was also at the presentation ceremony.

The officers who received their Instruments of Commission for SOC 48 are – Lt Stephion Gordon, Lt Garvon Douglas, Lt Rawl Lord, Lt Jermis Batson, Lt Quason Mc Andrew, Sub Lt Rodwin Paul, Lt Jermey Basdeo, Lt Daniel Phillips, Lt Richard Asregadoo and Lt Corenne Van Lewin. 

While the officers who received their instrumental for SOC 52 are – 2Lt Seaden David-Longe, 2Lt Jevon Reid, 2Lt Delon Abrams, 2Lt Joshua Ferdinand, 2Lt Ralph Williams, 2Lt Carlon Warde, 2Lt Roy De Younge and 2Lt Jermy Charles. 

On Tuesday, the eight GDF officers, six from outside of Guyana and one each from the Guyana Fire Service and the Guyana Prison Service, participated in the Commissioning Parade of SOC 52. 

The SOC 52 course lasted two years. In the meantime, the officers who received their State Warrants are – Warrant Office One -WO1 Carlyn Dover, WO2 Paul Gomes, WO2 Monty Knights, CPO Ayeni Oluntunde, WO2 Dwain Daniels, WO2 Lloyd Woodroffe, WO2 Eteki Stuart, WO2 Michael Joseph, WO2 Eon Winter, WO2 Cleveland O’Brien, WO2 Rudolph Moore, WO2 Mirza Shah, WO2 Odellie Dos Santos, WO2 Thomas Fortune, WO2 Dwain Clarke, WO2 Husbort Carmichael. 

WO2 Seon Duncan, WO2 Holman Denoon, WO2 Kevorn Brandford, WO2 Rayon Bailey, WO2 Melita Forrester, WO2 Mark Yaw and WO2 Baldwin Perry also received their state warrants in the ceremony

GDF was established in the year of 1965. It estimates about 2500 soldiers and has military bases across the nation. The Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces is always the incumbent President of Guyana.
