Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali met with a delegation from the Qatari Investment Mission to advance discussions on investment opportunities in Guyana on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
The Qatari Investment Mission representatives included the Group Chairman of Power International Holding, Moutaz Al Khayyat; the Group Chief Venture Officer (Power International Holding) Ali Kazma and the Group Chief Business Development Officer (Power International Holding) Mazen Alsbeti.
H.E Ambassador George Hallaq and Andrew Hallaq accompanied the delegation.
Vice President, Dr Bharrat Jagdeo; Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond; Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar; CEO of GO-Invest, Dr Peter Ramsaroop and Director of Projects in the Office of the President, Mrs Marcia Nadir-Sharma were also in the meeting.
President Dr Irfaan Ali said that there is now greater scope for Guyana and Zimbabwe to construct a practical framework to enhance bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest.
He made this statement as he accepted the Letters of Commission from the Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zimbabwe, His Excellency Ignatius Graham Mudzimba.
The accreditation ceremony took place at the Office of the President on Shiv Chanderpaul Drive.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Harper also joined President of Guyana Dr Irfaan Ali. Guyana and Zimbabwe established diplomatic relations in June 1980.
Dr Irfaan Ali, accepted the Letters of Credence from Mario Chan as the Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to Guyana on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at the office of the President.
During the accreditation ceremony, President Ali said that Guyana and the Philippines share many ideals which provide the scope for enhanced bilateral relations in key areas, including agriculture.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Elisabeth Harper and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Hugh Todd joined President of Guyana Dr Irfaan Ali.
