President Ali meets CEO of AGM Inc 'Lai Chang' to strengthen Guyana economically
Guyana: President Dr. Irfaan Ali met with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of AGM Inc (Zijin Mining Group Co Ltd) Zou Lai Chang and several other representatives of the company this afternoon- Saturday, March 26, 2022.
The meeting has been held at the State House of Guyana and discusses various matters of concern.
In the meeting, various AGM’s business operations have been taken in the notice of President Ali. During the meeting at State House, Zou apprised the Head of State of AGM’s business operations.
AGM Inc is a fully owned subsidiary of the multinational Zijin mining group. The company acquired the Guyana Gold Fields operations in August of 2020 and has been operating since November of the same year.
Since then, the company has invested significantly in the upliftment of the country. The Mining group has also assisted the government of Guyana in creating various opportunities and employment for the people of the country.
As per the report of the office of the President of Guyana, it has since created over 1000 jobs in the local mining industry.
President Ali has been working tirelessly in strengthening diplomatic relations between Guyana and various other foreign countries.
Earlier, Prime Minister also visited the United Arab Emirates to deepen their relationship with the country also enhance the culture of the Caribbean in the country.
Dr. Irfaan Ali said that the Caribbean Region is a stable platform with all of the components for a modern and emerging economy.
The Head of State made this assertion during his keynote address today, at the Caribbean Investment Forum (CIF2022), hosted by the Caribbean Export Development Agency, in association with the Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) in Dubai.
President Ali highlighted the Region’s economic potential and spoke extensively about opportunities in environmental services, the blue economy, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, and other areas of potential and predicted growth.
“Once you have the capital, the foresight, access to technology, then the Caribbean Region is a destination you should be looking at. It is a destination that offers you an opportunity to build a complex, multifaceted investment platform. And it’s a Region that is looking at being self-sufficient in many areas,” he added.
