President Ali held a meeting with former US Senator Chris Dodd virtually in Guyana

Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali held a virtual meeting, at the Office of the President, with former United States Senator Chris Dodd and NSC Senior Director for the Western Hemisphere Juan S. Gonzalez on Wednesday, April 20, 2022. 

Discussions surrounded the agenda of the Organisation of American States (OAS) Summit of the Americas 2022 that will be held in Los Angeles in June.

Dodd is serving as a special advisor to the Joe Biden government for the upcoming summit and is expected to be joined by former US Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell as part of the US delegation for the event.

The summit is set to bring together leaders from North, South, and Central America along with the Caribbean.

At today’s meeting, President Ali was joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd.

President Dr Irfaan Ali delivered the feature address at the first meeting of Guyana’s Information and Communication (ICT) Master Plan 2030 Discovery Kick Off at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre on the same day. 

President Ali emphasised that the master plan should ensure that the country runs on the most efficient platform that encompasses every sector and stakeholder. 

He was joined by members of his cabinet including the Vice President, the Honourable Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, and other Government representatives.

Addresses were also made by the Chief Technology Officer of the Maryland Department of Human Services Subramanian Muniyasamy; Pakistan’s Chief IT Officer Wajid Mirza; and other international ICT experts.

President Dr Irfaan Ali met with the Chairman of the CARICOM Development Fund (CDF), Dr Wendell Samuel and the CEO of the CDF, Mr Rodinald Soomer at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre on the same day.

The CARICOM Development Fund (CDF) is an institution of the Caribbean Community that was established in 2008 whose mandate is to provide financial or technical assistance to disadvantaged countries, regions and sectors in the Community.
