President Dr Irfaan Ali has attended a celebration of the 133rd anniversary of the establishment of Pakuri Village of Guyana on Saturday, March 26, 2022. The village is formally known as the St Cuthbert's Mission. President Ali also celebrates village day while observing the 133rd anniversary of the Pakuri Village.

Guyana: President Dr Irfaan Ali has attended a celebration of the 133rd anniversary of the establishment of Pakuri Village of Guyana on Saturday, March 26, 2022. The village is formally known as the St Cuthbert’s Mission. President Ali also celebrates village day while observing the 133rd anniversary of the Pakuri Village.
The Office of the President of Guyana provided the information about the visit. It noted, “President Dr Irfaan Ali today attended a Village Day hosted in observance of the 133rd anniversary of the establishment of Pakuri Village (formerly St Cuthbert’s Mission)”.
On the special occasion of the anniversary of the Pakuri village, the mostly resided Mahaica River community in the village have observed the day with numerous activities.
The village consists of a total of 2000 people of the community who have marked the occasion with cultural presentations and sporting activities.
The activities of the celebration included the cultural presentations of the community with fun activities. People have also shown the historical facts of the village, which includes the formation, cultural activities. Various sporting activities also fetch the attention of the other part of Guyana.
Further, President Ali also addressed the residents and outlined the significance of the culture of the village in the upliftment of the country. Moreover, President also announced numerous investment initiatives to assist and benefit the people of Pakuri. He also promised to invest in the development of the most sustainable initiative for the people of the community.
President Ali, during his address, announced major investment initiatives earmarked to benefit the residents of Pakuri. He also spoke of the community’s role in establishing a strong, resilient, and sustainable One Guyana.
President Ali also outlined the significance of the establishment of a strong, resilient and sustainable one, Guyana, and promised to work tirelessly in enlarging the country.
In addition, he carried a quantity of sports gear for the residents and allocated $500,000 for a project of their choice that would benefit the children of the community.
So, President Ali provided a $500,000 grant to the village to use it for the benefit of the community.
Pakuri’s Village Day was also attended by the Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Pauline Sukhai; the Minister of Natural Resources, Vickram Bharrat; the Minister within the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development, Anand Persaud and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, the Lenox Shuman.
Further, Toshao Timothy Andrews of Pakuri Village (formerly St Cuthbert’s Mission) speaks on the tremendous support Amerindian communities, including his own, have been receiving from the Government.
