Guyana: Dr Irfaan Ali has arrived in London for the prestigious Caribbean Council’s House of Lords Reception and the Guyana Investment Seminar.
The Head of State was received by Lady Scott, representative of His Royal Highness Prince Charles.
President Dr Irfan Ali and members of his delegation attended a welcome dinner in London on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Guyana’s High Commission hosted the dinner in London at the Royal Horseguards Hotel.
It was attended by several prominent Guyanese living in the UK, including legendary cricketer Sir Clive Lloyd; Baroness Valarie Amos; writer and broadcaster, Sir Trevor Phillips; Professor David Dabydeen; Grace Nichols; John Agard; Gina Miller and others.
Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Oneidge Walrond; CEO of GO-Invest, Dr Peter Ramsaroop and Director of Projects at the Office of the President, Mrs Marcia Nadir-Sharma were present.
Dr Irfaan Ali spoke about Guyana’s potential and opportunities while delivering the feature address at the Guyana Investment Seminar this afternoon at Carlton House in London, England.
The event was organised by The Caribbean Council— a trade and investment membership organisation that supports responsible and sustainable private sector-led investment and development in the Caribbean and Central America.
United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Jane Miller (OBE) and a number of business officials from the UK and the European Union were also at the seminar.
Along with President Ali, Guyana was represented by the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce,Oneidge Walrond; CEO of Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), Dr Peter Ramsaroop and Director of Projects at the Office of the President, Mrs Marcia Nadir-Sharma.
Dr Irfaan Ali and several members of his Government attended an investment roundtable discussion in London, England, on the same day.
The discussion focused on developing Guyana’s tourism product for the United Kingdom and the European markets.
United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Guyana, Jane Miller and a number of business officials from the UK and the European Union were also at the meeting.
En route to London, President Ali’s flight made a brief stop in Barbados, where he was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Mia Mottley
