Premier of Nevis Brantley receives AstraZeneca vaccine with wife & cabinet members

Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley & his wife Clyde Sharon Brantley received the AstraZeneca vaccine along with the cabinet members of the government on Wednesday, 24th February 2021.

Brantley tweeted, “The #Cabinet of the #Nevis government all got vaccinated today against #Covid19 as #Nevis rolls out its mass #vaccination campaign #LeadershipMatters #DontWait #Vaccinate.”

He added, “ Sharon and I got vaccinated against #Covid19 today in #Nevis as we roll out our mass #vaccination campaign #NevisRecovery.”

Earlier Prime Minister of St Kitts & Nevis also gets vaccinated three days ago along with frontline workers. 

Mark Brantley urged people to get themselves vaccinated against the global pandemic and make St Kitts and Nevis a virus-free nation. 

Notably, St Kitts & Nevis got 2,000 jabs of AstraZeneca vaccine from the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Additionally, PM Harris notified that over 41,600 doses of Astra-Zeneca vaccines on order for St Kitts & Nevis with delivery expected throughout February & March.

PM added, “21,600 jabs of the vaccines being sourced through the COVAX facility.”

PM Harris further explained that the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission has made charter flight arrangements to bring 125,000 doses of vaccine by the most direct route from India to Saint Lucia, where individual distribution will be made via the Regional Security System (RSS).

PM Harris continues to make a strong push for persons to accept the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available to them shortly.

Prime Minister also notified that around 70 persons get vaccinated on the first day of the Government vaccination rollout programmme which was held on Monday, 22 February 2021. 

“The expected shipment of the charter is on or of February 26, 2021. The hope is that the RSS plane will be in St Lucia awaiting the arrival of the charter plane arriving from India. The charge of the charter is US$250,000 or just of EC$680,000.00. This cost will be adhered to by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB). As Chairman of the ECCB Monetary Council, I have advised Governor Antoine to release the funds with the approval of Members of the Monetary Council,” the prime minister added.

Harris Government already intends to immunize about 70% of the population & to achieve herd immunity.
