Nevis: Premier of Nevis and the leader of Concerned Citizens Movement- Mark Brantley, took to social media and outlined the concept of the Believe In Yourself backpack programme. He expressed pleasure in the success of the programme and stated the initiative marks the upliftment of the students.
He noted, “There is no greater joy in giving back and showing love and appreciation. Since long before politics, I have made it a point to give back to Nevis. Why? The answer is simple. Nevis has given me all that I have, and I am forever grateful.”
With an aim to assist the children in their education, Nevis Island Administration, under the leadership of Premier Mark Brantley, started the BElieveInYOUrself backpack programme some five years ago to give back as usual but also to encourage the children to BE themselves and to Believe in themselves. It was and is intended as a tool to enforce self-esteem while also saving parents the expense of buying a backpack.
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the government delivered nearly 900 backpacks with supplies. It truly warms Premier’s heart to see some of the various schools showcasing backpacks and supplies. He was also very humbled at the number of parents and even some children who sent his messages to say thanks.
Mark Brantley also shared a picture on social media where children are going to school with backpack supplies. The picture gives “absolute joy of giving back. Praise be to God.”
Earlier, with a small ceremony, Premier presented nearly 900 backpacks and limited school supplies to the primary schools in my constituency. He also extended thank you to the PS Education Barrett and PEO Claxton and their team and the Head Teachers who also attended.
Backpacks and supplies can be picked up at the various schools during the day earlier by the students and their parents and guardians. Premier Mark Brantley was truly grateful that God had made this donation possible.
