Nevis: Premier of Nevis- Mark Brantley, lauded the precautionary measures adopted by Spencer R Brand against the passage of Hurricane Tammy in his absence.

He surveyed some roads and found them in good situation, giving credit to the hard work of the engineering team.

Premier Brantley took to Facebook and said that most seem in good shape, even after facing the wrath of heavy rainfall due to hurricanes. He added some of them have been affected but repaired by the team of Spencer Brand in establishing the network of roadways once again.

Premier also shared glimpses showing the clearance of the roads from the water. He said that most of their roads have drained the water quickly and effortlessly, benefiting citizens in tough situations.

He added, ”Good evening, everyone. I am safely back In Nevis and took some time to look at our roads. Most seem to be in good shape and weathered the heavy rains well. I continue to congratulate Minister Spencer R Brand and his hard-working team for the excellent engineering that is allowing our roadways to drain so quickly.”

Premier Brantley also extended assurance for those who are in affected areas that they will work quickly to resolve any issues.

Besides this, he also expressed gratitude to Deputy Premier Eric Evelyn for managing the island for more than ten days in his absence. He also lauded the disaster preparedness team for showing great leadership in tough times.

“Let me also express my thanks to Deputy Premier Eric Evelyn for so ably managing the island over the past ten days as Acting Premier. His regular updates to me assured me that Nevis was in great hands,” said the premier.

He also thanked the disaster preparedness team, Mr Brian Dyer and his entire team, including the volunteers. Under the leadership of Hon Spencer Brand, they all worked tirelessly to keep their people updated and safe.

“We applaud these dedicated professionals. Lastly and most importantly, allow me to thank Jehovah God for saving us from the worst yet again and for sparing our lives. It is not that we are without sin, but it is because He loves us and shows us mercies every day. Praise be to God, ”said the premier.
