Antigua and Barbuda: In the village of Willikies
on the island of Antigua, a 39 year vold man was brutally murdered just a few days ago. The crime rate was increased in the festive season at the island.
The murder incident occurred at around 8:15 pm on Tuesday, 28th December 2021. A 39-year-old deceased resided at Willikies, identified as Jace Merrick.
After thorough research and raids, a 31 year old suspect of the same village was captured by the Royal Police of Antigua and Barbuda
. The individual assists the police in a detailed and proper investigation.
The Press release issued by the Royal Police of Antigua and Barbuda stated,” A 31 year old man residing at Wilikies village is assisting the police of the detailed investigation in the brutal murder of 39 year old Jace Merrick, also belongs to Willikies village”.
Police authorities added that both the villagers were reportedly involved in a quarrel that ended up in stumbling. According to the reports, the suspected person has armed himself with a sharp object. Merrick
has got single stab wound to the upper body, which was foisted by that sharp object.
After the incident, Jace Merrick was declared dead by the doctor, who came on the spot. Following the declaration, the custody of the body was booked by the police, and they sent it for autopsy.
Police stated that the reports of the autopsy could only ascertain the real reason behind the death of a person.
The relatives and family of the dead Jace Merrick asked for justice and demanded the immediate arrest of the captured
man. However, the police have not produced the suspect before the court. They have not also cleared any charges claimed against the suspect.
