PNM knows only to blame others: Meighoo

Trinidad and Tobago: UNC’s PRO – Kirk Meighoo has once again targeted the government and raised question on the working of the ruling party and stated that PNM only knows to blame others.

On this he stated, “All Rowley’s PNM knows to do is blame others. He even blames our fellow CARICOM citizens for spreading COVID-19 here (even though they are locked out from travelling to Trinidad and Tobago), as opposed to the illegal migrants from Venezuela who continue to arrive, on an apparently daily basis due to Rowley’s, Young’s, and Hind’s porous maritime border patrols.”

He further pointed out and said that just as PM Rolwy does not know how he got COVID-19, he has no idea how to handle the covid crisis. He and his team have been flippant and incompetent.”

He added, “If the government loudly claimed – being number one in the world in tackling COVID-19 pandemic by an Oxford student’s research project, then Rowley and Deyalsingh must take credit for being last in the world in terms of vaccination rates, and among those countries with the highest covid spikes in the world.”

“The government first rejected the UNC’s many calls for discussion of covid as an urgent matter of public importance in Parliament and gave the go-ahead for Carnival 2020. Shortly thereafter, Trinidad and Tobago got its first case of covid,”- Meighoo stated.

“Instead of working with the UNC, as was proposed at a meeting with the Prime Minister, Rowley chose to fuel division, ridicule and trauma throughout the entire country. Rowley mocked the UNC’s proposed security dome, but supported the CPL’s cricket bubble.”

Following the statement, he said that PM continues to defend illegal Venezuelan migrants. On this, he asserted, “Rowley encouraged hostility against fellow citizens that he locked out abroad, but continues to defend illegal Venezuelan migrants. He previously said masks were unnecessary, but now he has introduced fines for not wearing masks properly, even while he boldly does not follow his own advice and wears it as a chin strap.”

“The population has had enough of Rowley’s madness and incompetence. It is costing us our health, our economy, our incomes, our children’s education, our sanity, our hope for the future. As the rest of the world opens up, we lock down further. Rowley has no other policy than to blame citizens, and stoke fears to distract people from seeing the truth.”

UNC’s PRO concluded that “The Government members and all medical personnel present in the press conference on Friday have been in charge of the country’s covid response since February 2020, and we are no better off today. It is time they accept help from the wider society and stop blaming citizens for their failure to manage this crisis.”
