Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, reached London on Wednesday in preparation for the Coronation of King Charles III.

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, reached London on Wednesday in preparation for the Coronation of King Charles III. The ceremony of the Coronation of the King of Britain will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023. 

PM Terrance Drew took to Facebook and stated that he had travelled to London on Wednesday. He stated, “I travelled to London earlier on Wednesday in preparation for the historic Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which will be taken place on Saturday, May 6 2023.”

He also outlined other attendees from St Kitts and Nevis and stated that Governor General Dame Marcella A. Liburd GCMG, JP; Deputy Governor-General Hyleta Liburd; Premier of Nevis Mark Brantley; Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Naeemah Hazelle; Diaspora Ambassador Christine Walwyn; and Protocol Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thouvia France are also attending the King’s Coronation. 

Along with that, Dr Denzil Douglas will join us in London for the Coronation on Thursday May 4 2023. Further, Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley will assume the responsibilities of Prime Minister in my absence.

Millions of people across the globe will watch the Coronation of King Charles III will on 6 May. The Coronation of Queen Camilla will also take place alongside Kings’. It is taking place almost 70 years since the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II which had taken place in June 1953. 

The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II was become the first to be televised, while George V and Queen Mary’s Coronation was the one which was first photographed. Further, the Coronation of George VI witnessed the broadcast on radio.

  • King George IV, crowned 19 July 1821
  • King William IV, crowned 8 September 1831
  • Queen Victoria, crowned 28 June 1838
  • King Edward VII, crowned 9 August 1902
  •  King George V, crowned 22 June 1911
  • King George VI, crowned 12 May 1937
  • Queen Elizabeth II, crowned 2 June 1953
  • King Charles III, to be crowned 6 May 2023
