St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew promised that his newly sworn-in government would assist parents who need financial assistance to get the necessary overseas medical care for their sick children.

In the Swearing-in Ceremony of his Cabinet at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium, PM Drew allocated different portfolios to the elected members of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party. He expressed huge grief after watching children suffer from diseases and even die due to their parent’s inability to afford medical treatment.

Through his social media, he stated, “Fellow citizens and residents, you have entrusted me with the leadership of the government. I, in turn, have confidence in my team. Their selection was not a popularity contest, but rather I have ensured that each ministry and each statutory corporation have ministers who are competent, empathetic, respectful, compassionate, accountable and energetic.”

PM Drew added that on his campaign trail, he often spoke about the advanced and affordable medical facilities and care for the children whose parents are unable to pay the medical expenses. His heart aches for those parents who have lost their little ones, especially those who have recently passed away.

“As a father and a medical doctor, I cannot bear to see parents and children suffer in this manner. Therefore, your government will ensure that it provides ALL the financial assistance needed for any child who must seek special medical care overseas!” he added.

He also promised that his cabinet would always ensure the betterment of St Kitts and Nevis and its people. PM Drew added, “I believe we have such ministers. You have heard the names of the cabinet members and their portfolios. I am grateful to them for accepting the portfolios that I would have assigned.”

He added that they had accepted the call to service. Before God and you the people, at yesterday’s swearing-in ceremony, they took their oaths.

It is now time to get to work to deliver results according to the agreed performance objectives.
