St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, mourned the death of William Dore on Friday, February 18, 2023. He expressed condolences to his family and friends and hailed him for his contribution to the country.
He took to Facebook to express his condolences and stated, “I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late William Dore. William Dore, born July 7, 1925, was one of the main leading forces in the evolution of education in Saint Kitts and Nevis.”
He cited that Dore worked efficiently in the field of education and flourished with his utmost creativity.
While lauding Dore for evolving the education sector of St Kitts and Nevis, PM Dr Terrance Drew stated that he was the prime reason for the upliftment of the sector as he made the students study efficiently.
He added there was a time when there was no secondary education in St Kitts and Nevis, and the idea of developing the College of Preceptors Examination came out of his head.
PM Terrance Drew outlined that he made the government of St Kitts and Nevis strengthen the initiative. He cited, “There was a time when there was no secondary education in SKN, and Dore helped introduce the College of Preceptors Examination and got the government to spearhead the initiative.”
The College of Preceptors dates back to 1846 and is the oldest surviving teaching association in the United Kingdom. A distinction from the College of Preceptors was almost equivalent to a GCE, O’level pass.
He lauded Dore on behalf of St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party and the government of St Kitts and Nevis for his significant contribution to the education sector. PM Drew stated that Dore, with his boldness, added new value to the education field of the country and worked tremendously for it.
PM Terrance Drew added, “The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis is appreciative of the work of William Dore and his tremendous contribution to the advancement of education within the Federation.”
While extending condolences, PM Drew cited, “May his soul rest in eternal peace and may his family receive the comfort and reassurance needed during this difficult time.”
