St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, met with the National Reparation Committee. During the meeting, they discuss various mandates of the Committee.
The activities and plans for the future of the Committee have also been discussed in the meeting.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, through his Facebook page, stated, “Yesterday, November 2, 2022, I met with St. Kitts and Nevis National Reparation Committee to discuss the mandate of the Committee, its activities and plans for the future.”
According to PM Terrance Drew, this organization seeks to promote, educate and empower on the issue of reparations.
Further, PM Terrance Drew asserted that the Committee has been working with the mandate of C.A.R.I.C.O.M. for the region to establish reparations committees. Outlining the significance of the Committee, he added that it would be helpful for the region’s indigenous and African-descent communities who are the victims of crimes against humanity.
“The Committee falls in line with C.A.R.I.C.O.M.’s mandate for the region to establish reparations committees for justice for the region’s indigenous and African descent communities who are the victims of crimes against humanity in the forms of genocide, slavery, the slave trade and racial apartheid, “said the prime minister.
Recently, he expressed pleasure in celebrating five longstanding members of the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society who are now Honourary Governors of the Society, Sir Tapley Seaton G.C.M.G., C.V.O., K.C., J.P., LL.D; Sir Edmund Lawrence K.C.M.G., G.C.M.G., O.B.E., C.S.M., J.P.; Kenneth Martin M.B.E., M.H.;Gloria Wilkin; and Larry Armony.
According to the prime minister, these are outstanding members not only of the Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park Society, but the Federation as a whole. They have made significant contributions in many spheres and are well deserving of this recognition as they have each made extraordinary strides not just in elevating themselves, but in their service to our country.
