St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew congratulated Dr Roosevelt Skerrit on his resounding victory in the December 6 snap general elections. He stated that the people of Dominica have spoken through their votes and show their full confidence in Dr Skerrit.

In his congratulatory message, PM Terrance Drew commended Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and his Dominica Labour Party for securing a landslide victory at the polls, winning 19 out of 21 seats.

He asserted that the citizens of Dominica had made the mark of DLP and PM Skerrit not only nationally but regionally and internationally for their hands-on leadership abilities.

PM Terrance Drew applauded the leadership of Dr Skerrit in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). He asserted that under the efficient leadership of PM Skerrit, Dominica has developed and built back better despite being faced the economic challenges.

While praising PM Skerrit, Dr Terrance Drew added that he bridged the gap between the predominantly English-speaking Caribbean region and the predominantly Spanish-speaking Latin American region with his efficient work.

“The result of the snap general elections clearly showed the trust and faith of the people of the Commonwealth of Dominica in you and the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) and their willingness to embrace their innovative thinking and future plans for the country, “said the prime minister.

He added that it brings him great pleasure to extend congratulations to him and the Dominica Labour Party on their success. He prays that God grants you continued guidance, protection, and wisdom as they lead their people and country.

Dominica Labour Party secured victory in the snap general elections for the sixth consecutive year after winning 19 out of 21 seats. Earlier on Wednesday, President Charles Savarin swore in Dr Roosevelt Skerrit as the prime minister of the country.

After the declaration of the result, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit extended greetings to the candidates of DLP and other independent candidates to win the elections. He appreciated Team Unity Dominica and independent candidates for their decision to contest the elections.
