St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew, addressed the Customs Officers at the Inauguration Ceremony of the 13th Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC) Junior Officers Basic Training Course on Monday, February 6, 2023.
PM Terrance Drew took to social media and expressed pleasure in addressing the Customs Officers. He stated that the course is a significant step in their careers.
PM Drew cited, “It was a privilege and honour to address the Customs Officers at the Inauguration Ceremony of the 13th Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC) Junior Officers Basic Training Course today, Monday, February 6 2023.”
While extending gratitude to CCLEC for their commitment and dedication and noted that this is a significant step in their careers, and he is indeed grateful for their commitment and dedication to serving in this capacity. He also encouraged the officers and asked them to perform their duties with utmost passion and hard work.
PM Drew added that the customs officer played a significant role in keeping the economy as fair as possible. He said, “The role of a Customs Officer is to effectively serve as the gatekeepers of our nation. In so doing, they preserve our health and safety while also keeping our economy as fair as possible; and that is incredibly important.”
He further wished the officer great success and asserted that he wished every officer great success during this training course and in their career at Saint Kitts and Nevis Customs and Excise Department.
Officers of the Customs and Excise Department are currently participating in a month-long Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC) Junior Officers Basic Training Course.
The capacity-building exercise will expose untrained officers to the necessary skills needed to increase their effectiveness in protecting the nation’s borders from the illicit movement of goods and people. PM Terrance Drew dropped the snapshots on his Facebook page, where he could be seen addressing the customs officer with encouraging words.
