PM Skerrit welcomes team of Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority to Dominica

Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, welcomed a team from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) to Dominica on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, welcomed a team from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA) to Dominica on Friday, April 22, 2022.

The team of ECCAA visited the country to discuss the aspects of the construction of the International Airport in Welsey.

Various delegations of the team of ECCAA have toured Dominica. The team, led by Anthony Whittier, Director General of ECCAA, includes Trevor Davis, Communications, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) Manager; Richard Cox, CNS Inspector and Jaime Calderon, ECCAA Aerodrome Expert.

The ECCAA team is in Dominica for a visit to the International Airport Site in Wesley and for discussions with key local officials engaged in the development of the International airport project.

While expressing pleasure on their visit, PM Skerrit noted, “Dominica is pleased to collaborate with ECCAA as we forge ahead with plans to construct the international airport.”

Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit stated that Dominica is pleased to collaborate with ECCAA as we forge ahead with plans to construct the international Airport.

By acquiring Montreal Management Consultants Est (MMCE) as the construction company, Dominica is constructing the International Airport in Wesley village.

With the help of the international Airport, Dominica will have access to direct flights to the United States, which further increases the major businesses opportunities for the country. The Airport will also aid the country in connecting with great business hubs across the globe.

It will be worth around 1 billion Eastern Caribbean dollars, being constructed in five phases.

With the construction of the international Airport in Dominica, it will become the most expensive and large-scale project in the country so far.

In addition to that, it will also hike the number of visitors to Dominica and strengthen the tourism industry. Prime Minister Skerrit also geared up their farmers to increase crop production, which could be helpful in exporting to the countries such as the United States.

Around 63 acres of land is already cleared in Wesley.
