“We always said to the people of Dominica that we would build an international airport but not we will not burden taxpayers of Dominican future generations as it will bring huge debt and we could afford to borrow to build an international airport, and we have started saving money,” he added.

PM Slerrity also outlined that they started saving as little as 5 million US dollars every month.

However, at the time of the Hurricane, the government have already saved a significant amount of money of 5 million US dollars every month. But PM Skerrit asserted due to the Maria; the money gets spent on building homes and roads spent money on farmers, helping the private sector and many more.

On the construction of hotels, he said that it is part of the strategy for increasing foreign exchange into Dominica. That’s why the government have used CBI funds to create an independent source of revenue earning, job creation, and sustainable job for the country.

He asserted that the government is investing in infrastructure for better roads which means better commerce, better transportation, better access, and safety.

PM Skerrit also outlined that the World Bank is already looking into the hotels that have been built, such as Jungle Bay and Kempinski and others.

“We have hotel rooms that we can now promote in Dominica; People can come in, jobs created, farmers can sell the produce, fishermen can sell the produce, people can come in spa treatment and the associated services and amenities,” said PM Skerrit.

While slamming opposition, he asserted that they had criticized them at the time of construction of Jungle Bay and other hotels.

He also emphasized that the news about the halted work of the Marriott hotels was untrue, and there’s a lot of work taking place at the Marriott Hotel in the country. Moreover, in the hotel named Hilton in Salisbury, a significant world has happened there. Secret Bay is also approaching completion. Jungle Bay has completed ocean edge under construction.

“We have seen an increase in visitor arrival because of these American flights, and the ultimate thing will have happened with the construction of international airport which will be the final elements in terms of infrastructure for improving access into Dominica.”

He said that one of the international airports would build, and the planes would land in Dominica from different parts of the world.
