Cuba: Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit reached the Republic of Cuba to commence various diplomatic talks with the delegations of the country through the official visit of three days. On Monday, April 25, 2022, PM Skerrit was received by Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit expressed pleasure after visiting the Republic of Cuba and outlined his plans and meetings scheduled for the coming three days.
On his social media, PM Skerrit noted, “I received a warm welcome at the start of an official visit to the Republic of Cuba.”
During his official three days trip to Cuba, Prime Minister will hold talks with the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez to discuss further stronger the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Besides this, PM Roosevelt Skerrit will receive the Order of José Martí during a ceremony at the Palace of the Revolution (Palacio de la Revolución) in Havana. He will also participate in a ceremony to lay wreaths at the José Martí Memorial at the Plaza de la Revolución.
Prime Minister also expressed pleasure for being in Cuba and gets an opportunity to meet with the Dominican students residing in the country.
PM Skerrit said, “Over the next days, I will hold talks with the President of the Republic of Cuba, H.E Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermúdez, meet with Dominican students there, and participate in a ceremony to lay wreaths at the José Martí Memorial at the Plaza de la Revolución.”
He also expressed his commitment to growing secured and strong relations with Cuba and always worked hard to reaffirm with commitments. PM Skerrit also welcomed this opportunity to create more friendly relations with the country which are built on sincerity and understanding.
PM Skerrit said, “I have already reaffirmed our commitment to friendly relations with Cuba built on sincerity and understanding, and I welcome this opportunity for further dialogue and cooperation between our two countries.”

Meanwhile, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel welcomed the PM Skerrit, “A big welcome hug to the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, who arrived today in Cuba on an official visit. Until the 27th, we will be sharing experiences and projects. The strength of the Caribbean is in unity. #CubaForLife,” President Miguel Díaz-Canel Tweeted on Sunday evening.
Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, Cuban Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, said, “Honored to receive today and give the warmest welcome, on behalf of the Cuban government, to the Honorable Roosevelt Prime Minister of #Dominica, a great friend of the Cuban people, who is paying an official 3-day visit to Cuba,”.

Dominica has always stood up in support of Cuba after the US imposed strict economic, financial, trade and other sanctions on the communist country.
