Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit addressed a press conference on Wednesday, adding that new advanced plans for youth enterprises will be announced soon.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit addressed a press conference on Wednesday announcing new plans for youth.

He said that he will announce a few plans to support youth enterprise in the coming weeks. 

Prime Minister said, “In the coming weeks, I will outline a few plans to support youth enterprise and to continue our efforts to advance sports and develop the aptitude of our young people in various disciplines.”

Besides this, in the coming week, Dominica will break ground for the construction of the Goodwill Secondary School, which will be constructed with funding from People’s Republic of China . He announced that the contracts had been signed for the construction of the Calibishie, Sineku, Tete Morne, Bellevue Chopin and Thibaud Primary Schools.

While shedding light on the cordial relations between Dominica and the Republic of China, PM Skerrit said that since 2004, Dominica has enjoyed a cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the People’s Republic of China. 

He said that both countries have seen the tangible results of this long-standing friendship. PM Skerrit can point to invaluable assistance to advance the agriculture sector, restore key infrastructure after disaster, enhance health facilities and construct all-important sports infrastructure.

PM Skerrit mentioned, “Here in Dominica, we are certainly not immune to external economic shocks and the lingering effects of natural disasters.”

While extending gratitude, PM Skerrit said that he wished to thank Ambassador Lin and the team at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Dominica for their continued support. 

“I look forward to building on our already solid relations with China for the benefit of both our peoples, “said the prime minister.
