The forum is hosted by the Government of Guyana and the CARICOM Secretariat and will be held under the theme “Investing in Vision 25 by 2025.”

Roseau, Dominica: Along with other Caribbean leaders, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit will also attend the CARICOM Agri-Investment Forum scheduled to be held in Georgetown, Guyana, from May 19-21, 2022. 

Through his Facebook post, Prime Minister Skerrit announced,”I will attend the Agri-Investment Forum & Expo in Georgetown, Guyana from May 19-21.”

The forum is hosted by the Government of Guyana and the CARICOM Secretariat and will be held under the theme “Investing in Vision 25 by 2025.”

Participants will address issues linked to investment in agriculture and food production, including cross-border investment, climate-smart agriculture and related infrastructural development.

The investment forum will also feature a number of key investment-related activities inclusive of a country-specific Investment Platform that will see investors presenting bankable projects for investment consideration in agriculture in the specific CARICOM Member States.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit asserted that the meeting is timely for Dominica as we intensify efforts locally to build stronger value chain relationships, promote food security and achieve sustainable growth in the agriculture sector.

 Ian Douglas, Minister of Trade, Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Innovation, Business and Export Development; Fidel Grant, Minister of Blue and Green Economy, Agriculture and National Food Security; and Hillary Shillingford of Salisbury and Deles Warrington of Calibishie, commercial farmers, are accompanying Dr Skerrit to the meeting.

Besides this, Seven Heads of Government will attend the CARICOM Agri-Investment Forum that opens in Georgetown, Guyana, on Thursday 19 May 2022. 

They are Chair of the Community, John Briceno, Prime Minister of Belize; Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Keith Rowley; Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley; Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne; Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit; Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip Pierre; and Premier of Montserrat, Joseph Farrell.

President of Guyana and Lead Head of Government with responsibility for agriculture in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, will deliver the feature address at the opening of the Forum on Thursday at 10 am at the National Cultural Centre. 

Visiting Heads of Government and CARICOM Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett will also speak at the event.

The exhibition will be open to the public on Thursday from 13:00hrs to 19:00hrs, and on Friday and Saturday from 10:00hrs to 19:00hrs at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
