PM Roosevelt Skerrit meets Saudi Arabia Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb

Prime Minister of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, met with Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday. Tourism Minister is on tour to the Caribbean and visited Dominica to hold high-level talks.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica- Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, met with Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday. Tourism Minister is on tour to the Caribbean and visited Dominica to hold high-level talks. 

The fruitful bilateral meeting of PM Roosevelt Skerrit with Saudi Government officials signalled the strengthening relationship between the two nations. 

The meeting took place at the Executive Lounge of the Douglas Charles Airport. Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb led an eight-member delegation which included Sultan Almusallam, Deputy Minister of Tourism; Saja Abdullah Alhoshan, Chief of Staff; Faisal Alkahtani, Deputy CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD); and Mohammadi Shenqiti, Portfolio Manager, Expo 2023.

PM Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb and stated that their talks featured several matters of concern. He said, “I, along with members of the Cabinet and senior government officials, held high-level talks on Wednesday with Ahmed Al-Khateeb, Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.” 

The meeting featured a discussion on topics such as tourism and culture in which they outlined ways to enhance the bilateral ties between the two regions in the tourism sector. Along with that, agriculture also remained a key subject of the discussion at the meeting between PM Roosevelt Skerrit and Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb. 

They also shared their dialogues to strengthen their diplomatic ties on infrastructure development. The meeting also discussed the Saudi Government’s newly established investment fund focused on The Caribbean, which is known as a significant step towards advancing infrastructure development across the Caribbean region. 

The Prime Minister’s exchange with the Saudi delegation struck an optimistic note and has further strengthened diplomatic relations between Dominica and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

PM Roosevelt Skerrit said, “We discussed bilateral cooperation in a number of areas, including agriculture, tourism, culture and infrastructure development.” 

Continuing to prioritize the global standing and diplomatic relations of Dominica, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit reiterated his commitment to Dominica and the Dominican people. As an influential voice on climate change, the Prime Minister is steadfast in ensuring Dominica maintains a positive global presence.
