Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, met with the delegation from IsraAID, which included Meira Aboulafia, Chairperson IsraAID Global Board, Yotam Polizer, IsraAID CEO Naama Gorodischer, IsraAID Global Chief Humanitarian and Resilience Officer and Amy Rosenblatt Lui, Executive Director, Beverly Foundation on Friday, February 1, 2023.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit took to Facebook and added, “I met this past weekend with a delegation from IsraAID, which included Meira Aboulafia, Chairperson IsraAID Global Board, Yotam Polizer, IsraAID CEO, Naama Gorodischer, IsraAID Global Chief Humanitarian and Resilience Officer and Amy Rosenblatt Lui, Executive Director, Beverly Foundation.”
The discussion was mainly focused on resilience goals and sustainable efforts of the Commonwealth of Dominica. PM Roosevelt Skerrit noted, “The delegation was in Dominica to observe our model of resilience and identify opportunities for further collaboration.”
PM Skerrit extended gratitude to IsraAID for their remarkable contribution to the recovery policy of the country after the passage of Hurricane Maria. He also extended gratitude for their assistance to the Ministry of Education in building capacity and promoting disaster risk reduction strategies.
He added, “I welcomed the opportunity to reiterate our gratitude for IsraAID’s extraordinary support of Dominica since the passage of Hurricane Maria, in particular, its assistance to the Ministry of Education to build capacity, promote disaster risk reduction strategies and strengthen school emergency operations plans.”
PM Roosevelt Skerrit said that Andrea Lee-Zucker, IsraAID US Board Member, Jonathan Barsade, IsraAID US Board Member,Nicole King, IsraAID Dominica Country Director and Dominica’s Minister for Health, Wellness and Social Services, Cassanni Laville were also in attendance.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit during his press conference stated that held constructive talks with Dennis Byron on the Electoral Reform report, submitted to the Government of Dominica in December.
“It was a very constructive engagement where we looked at some of his recommendations. I really have no difficulties with the recommendations.
“I have reminded him of the urgency of getting it out of the way. Ideally, the Government would like to go to parliament before the next session of parliament that is to say before June 30th, 2023. He indicated to me that all things considered, he believes we can go to parliament in April of this year to pass the necessary legislation,” Prime Minister Skerrit said.
