Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica– Dr Roosevelt Skerrit extended greetings and warm congratulations to Liz Truss on being declared the next prime minister of the United Kingdom.
He stated that Dominica and its people always look forward to healthy diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom.
Through his social media, PM Roosevelt Skerrit noted, “On behalf of the people and Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, I send my warmest congratulations to Liz Truss on being declared the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. I anticipate the continuance of our firm and cordial cooperation.”
While succeeding Boris Johnson, Liz Truss resumed the office of the prime minister of the United Kingdom. She became the candidate for the position of prime minister after Boris Johnson resigned from his position as the head of the Government as he received backlash for his scandalous term. He also lost the favour of the lawmakers of the country.
After being elected as the prime minister, she will become the fourth PM of the conservative Party. She was elected as the prime minister after receiving 81,326 votes after only 170,000 dues-paying members of the Conservative Party were allowed to vote. On the other hand, former treasury chief Rishi Sunak received 60,399 votes, and he lost his bid to Liz Truss.
Further, the new prime minister of the UK, Liz Truss took to social media and stated that as the Prime Minister, she is confident that together they can ride out the storm, rebuild the economy and become the modern, brilliant Britain that they know they can be. She will take action every day to make that happen.
She said, “I am honoured to be elected Leader of the Conservative Party. Thank you for putting your trust in me to lead and deliver for our great country. I will take bold action to get all of us through these tough times, grow our economy, and unleash the United Kingdom’s potential.”
