Reportedly, the leak of the natural gas has caused the blast in the 96-room hotel. However, it has under renovation and didn't consist of any guests. The area in the hotel was occupied during the explosion.

Caribbean: Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit expressed profound condolences to the Government and People of the Republic of Cuba after a deadly explosion at a hotel in Havan on Friday, May 6, 2022. 

PM Skerrit noted, “On behalf of the Government of Dominica, I express profound condolences to the Government and People of the Republic of Cuba, following a deadly explosion at a hotel in Havana on Friday.” 

He said, “The death toll rose to 25 on Saturday, with dozens injured. Our prayers are with the families of those who perished in the blast. As we have always done, we stand in solidarity with the Cuban people.”

In the deadly explosion at a hotel in Havana, a total of 25 people lost their lives, and dozens received major injuries.

Reportedly, the leak of the natural gas has caused the blast in the 96-room hotel. However, it has under renovation and didn’t consist of any guests. The area in the hotel was occupied during the explosion. 

The deceased has also included four children and one pregnant woman. Havan’s hotel is known as one of the ultra-luxurious hotels and also features various high-profile guests, which include Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and high-ranking US government officials.

The hotel of Havana was scheduled to reopen on Tuesday as it has been under renovation for the past seven months. 

During a news conference on Sunday, an official from the Republic of Cuba reported that a total of 53 workers were inside the hotel at the time of the incident. Since the hotel caught fire, a total of 11 people have lost their lives, and they were workers. Out of the total workers, a total of six were hospitalized, and 13 went missing. 

Besides this, Prime Minister of St Lucia Philip J Pierre also expressed condolences after hearing about the incident. 

He stated, “I would like to publicly express my condolences to the people and the Government of the Republic of Cuba during this tragic time.

Let us pray for the loved ones and the families of those who have lost their lives as a result of the hotel blast in Havana. May their souls rest in peace.”
